5000 Years of pearls from Bahrain - 2018
The landmark ‘5000 years of pearls from Bahrain’ brought together the long-standing relationship between Cartier and MATTAR, a relationship which began in the late 19th, early 20th century when Jacques Cartier met Salman Bin Hussain Bin Mattar during a visit to Bahrain in 1912 seeking advice and expertise on the purchase of pearls. MATTAR displayed six of their most precious necklaces, each chosen to showcase a unique aspect of pearls found in the Arabian Gulf as well as the dedicated craftsmanship needed to string these pearls, with an 18-string necklace made of 6095 Jiwan pearls being on display, a creation that took longer than a decade to assemble.
